Generals sign free agent defenceman Alex Lepkowski

Oshawa, Ontario – Oshawa Generals General Manager, Jeff Twohey announced Wednesday that the Oshawa Generals have signed free agent defenceman, Alex Lepkowski.

Lepkowski, a 4th round selection of the Saginaw Spirit in the ’09 OHL Priority Selection spent most of his OHL career with the Barrie Colts, following a trade from the Spirit during the 2010-2011 OHL season. Alex has spent this season with the Rochester American’s of the American Hockey League. The 6’4” defenceman joins the Generals in hopes of being a shutdown d-man on the back end that provides a lot of play-off experience.

General Manager Jeff Twohey commented on the acquisition of Lepkowski, “We are excited to have Alex, Alex is a player that brings a ton of experience to our hockey club, he has played in the American Hockey League this year and made it to the OHL Finals last season with the Barrie Colts. Alex will add depth, size and character to our blueline and to our hockey team as a whole”

On Tuesday the Generals announced that they had released over age forward Brian Hughes to allow space on their roster for defenceman Alex Lepkowski.
