Cougars' Fiddler WHL player of the month

Press Release

CALGARY, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that forward Todd Fiddler of the Prince George Cougars is the WHL Player of the Month for January, 2014.

The 20-year-old from Meadow Lake, SK, amassed 16 goals and 13 assists for 29 points along with a +4 rating in 14 games during the month of January, helping the Cougars post a 7-5-0-2 record in that span.  Fiddler recorded at least one point in 12 of 14 games during January, and recorded multiple points in eight games.  Fiddler led all WHL players in goals through January, scoring in eight of 14 games and recording three hat tricks.  Five of his 16 goals came on the power play while he also added two shorthanded goals.

Fiddler’s impressive performance in January saw him selected among the 3 Stars seven times, including three 1st Star selections and three 2nd Star selections.  His contribution to Prince George’s offense during the month was equally impressive as he factored into 49% of all the goals the Cougars scored in regulation play.

Fiddler is in his fourth and final season in the Western Hockey League.  He was acquired by the Cougars from the Moose Jaw Warriors in November, and have amassed 30 goals and 59 points in just 35 games with Prince George.  Selected by the Medicine Hat Tigers in the third round, 65th overall, in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft, Fiddler has also played for the Prince Albert Raiders and Spokane Chiefs through his WHL career.  The 5’11”, 210-lb winger has accumulated 109 goals and 212 points in 263 career regular-season games.

Fiddler’s accomplishments make him a deserving choice as the WHL Player of the Month for Jaunary.
