Saints obtain John Baiocco from Fargo

DUBUQUE, IA —Hours before the USHL's trade deadline, the Dubuque Fighting Saints finalized their 23-man roster by acquiring forward John Baiocco, along with a 2014 12th Round Phase II Draft Pick, from the Fargo Force. In return, the Fighting Saints dealt a 4th Round and a 7th Round selection in Phase II of the 2014 USHL Draft to Fargo. Dubuque had an open roster spot to obtain Baiocco after the club dealt Andrew Gaus to Cedar Rapids on January 20.

Baiocco, 18, was the leading scorer for the Force this season, notching 9 goals and 13 assists for 22 points in 37 games. Fargo originally drafted him in the 4th round of the 2011 USHL Future's Draft. The 5-foot-8, 165 pound forward is a native of Morristown, New Jersey is committed to play college hockey at Yale.

Prior to his time in the USHL, Baiocco played at the Delbarton School in New Jersey where he was a member of the team from 2009-2013, and was a two-time First Team All-State forward. He scored 36 goals and 82 points in 2012-2013 to help the team to its sixth consecutive state title. Baiocco won four state titles with Delbarton and had 81 goals and 103 assists in 184 games in his career.

Baiocco rounds out the Fighting Saints 23-man roster for the remainder of the 2013-2014 regular season and the 2014 Clark Cup Playoffs. The USHL's Trade Deadline is 11:59 p.m. Thursday night.
