SJHL Players of the Week

CANALTA HOTELS SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK:  Anthony Pickering, Melfort Mustangs
1993 F Anthony Pickering (Sylvan Lake AB) erupted for back to back four point games against the La Ronge Ice Wolves last week as the Mustangs assumed control of first place in the Sherwood Division.  Pickering, who has long been regarded as one of the SJHL's top defensive players, has now become one of the league's top offensive ones too.  He has 14-goals and 27-assists in 42-games overall.

SASKTEL SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK: Rylan Parenteau, Weyburn Red Wings
1996 G Rylan Parenteau (Saskatoon SK) posted back to back shutouts to help the Red Wings increase their win streak to six.  He stopped all 59 shots as the Wings shutout Flin Flon on Friday and then cooled off red hot Melfort on Saturday.  The first year junior, who is still midget eligible, is now 13-17-and-2 with a 2.63-GAA, .928-SPCT and 3-shutouts on the season while being a workhorse behind a young team.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK:  Chase Norrish, Yorkton Terriers
1993 D Chase Norrish (Strongfield SK) had multiple point outings in all three games last week, including a standout two-goal, two-assist outing against Humboldt on Friday.  He started the week with two assists in a win over Flin Flon on Tuesday and then had two helpers in a win over Notre Dame on Saturday.  He has 6-goals and 26-assists in 46-games on the year.

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:  Ryland Pashovitz, Humboldt Broncos
1995 G Ryland Pashovitz (Saskatoon SK) won both of his starts last week, including a shutout over the Melville Millionaires with his team on the road and coming off a game in which they were blown out.  He also made 42-saves on 44-shots in a win over Nipawin earlier in the week.  Pashovitz leads the SJHL with a 1.37-GAA and .957-SPCT.  He has 5-shutouts and is 15-5-and-3 overall.
