Eagles netminder Hunt tracks down scholarship to Clarkson

The Surrey Eagles are very proud to announce the commitment of goaltender Andrew Hunt to Clarkson University for the 2012/13 season.

This season, Hunt has is second in the BCHL in wins with a 25-15-1 record. He has a 2.76 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage which. After splitting goaltending duties for the Eagles last year, the Surrey native has established himself as a number-one goalie this season and has flourished in the position.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound netminder is very excited about the chance to continue his career at Clarkson.

“I would like to thank the Surrey Eagles organization, head coach Matt Erhart and goaltender coach Rob Fuchs for giving me the opportunity in the BCHL and helping me achieve my goal of playing NCAA Division I hockey.”

Surrey Eagles head coach and general manager Matt Erhart is very pleased withthe news also.

“Andrew is very deserving of the scholarship and recognition he is receiving this season. He has worked very hard to improve his game and Clarkson is lucky to get a student athlete of Andrews’s calibre.”

Clarkson University is located in Potsdam, New York and is a small private university with a student population of around 3,000. The Clarkson University Golden Knights are a traditional powerhouse in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Some notable alumni of Clarkson University include Craig Conroy, Erik Cole, and Willie Mitchell.
