Congrats to Brendan Shane (U16) on committing to UConn

Congratulations to Brendan Shane of the Midget Minor (U16) team on committing to UConn for the fall of 2014. Shane, a 1996 birth year, is a center. Shane will join UConn for their inaugural season in Hockey East. Shane becomes the 1st River Rat born in 1996 to commit to a Division 1 College. Shane will be the 3rd River Rat to wear the UConn jersey joining former Husky and River Rat captain Steve Bergin (88) and current Sophomore Cody Sharib (90)

Shane, is a great skater, who plays well in all 3 zones and is very good at winning draws. His playmaking has been elite so far on the season, he has collected 19 assists in just 10 games, playing on the U16 top line with Joe Sacco, and Nolan Redler. This line has been excellent in the season helping the River Rats to a 8-1-1 record while combining for 17 goals and 32 assists for 49 points making them the most productive U16 line in the state so far. (Shane has 2 goals and 19 assists to lead the team in scoring)
