Press Release sent the World of Junior Hockey

PENTICTON, BC – The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce forward Nic Pierog (93) has committed to Clarkson University for the 2014-2015 season.

Pierog is the 16th player on the Vees roster to secure a NCAA Division I scholarship and joins current teammates Ben Dalpe and Chris Rygus as future Golden Knights.

Vees President, General Manager and Head Coach Fred Harbinson, “Nic clearly demonstrated his drive and ability in last year’s Fred Page Cup Final. He’s a goal-scorer, a leader and a big physical presence down the middle, which will help us and eventually the Golden Knights. ”

Pierog, 20, made his Vees debut last Sunday in the Vees 6-2 win over the Merritt Centennials, after being acquired last week from the Surrey Eagles. The Georgetown, Ontario native is third scoring on the Vees with 26 goals and 38 points. Those 26 tallies are third-best in the BCHL goal-scoring race; five behind teammate Brad McClure. The power-forward also has eight goals in his last eight games. Pierog is in his second and final season in the BCHL, and has 44 goals and 72 points in 111 career games. Last spring Pierog and the Eagles won the Fred Page Cup and inaugural Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup, en route to a semi-final appearance at the 2013 RBC Cup in Summerside, PEI.
