Steelers’ Thomas named RBC Player of Month

Parker Thomas of the Selkirk Steelers has been named the RBC Player of the Month for November.

 Thomas, 20, recorded 16 points (6-10) in eight games last month for the Steelers. The product of Winnipeg also leads the MJHL points race with 57 points (23-34) in 33 games for the Steelers, who sit second in the Addison Division with 56 points.

The runners up are 19 year old forward Colin Baudry of the Steinbach Pistons and 18 year old forward Kamerin Nault of the Winnipeg Blues.

 Sher-Wood Hockey Defenseman of the Month

Matt Franczyk of the Steinbach Pistons has been named top defenceman for December.  The 20-year-old from Winnipeg was outstanding both on the blueline and in the offensive zone, reflected in 10 points (1-9) in 11 games.

The runners up are 19 year old Joel Messner of the Selkirk Steelers and 19 year old Clay Van Diest of the Portage Terriers.

MGEU Goaltender of the Month

For the second straight month, Braeden Ostepchuk of the Selkirk Steelers has been named the MGEU Goaltender of Month.

The 20-year-old from Lethbridge posted an unblemished 6-0 record (1.84 GAA/951 save percentage) for December, including two shutouts. The outstanding play comes off a perfect 7-0 record for November.

The runners up are 19 year old Talor Joseph of the Portage Terriers and 19 year old Michael Stiliadis of the Dauphin Kings.

IBAM Rookie of the Month

Jackson Keane of the Winnipeg Blues has been named the IBAM Rookie of the Month thanks to nine points (4-5) in eight games. The son of former NHL star Mike Keane, Jackson has shown he also knows how to play the game. While only 16, he’s been a key member of the Blues’ attack. The Winnipegger was also selected to be a member of Team West at the U17 World Junior A Challenge now underway at Cape Breton, NS.

The runners up are 16 year old forward Tyler Jeanson of the Portage Terriers and 17 year old forward Scott Gall of the Winkler Flyers.
