'CANES ACQUIRE MARANTZ FROM THE CHIEFS

Lethbridge, AB – Lethbridge Hurricanes General Manager and Head Coach Rich Preston announced today that the Canes have acquired forward Matt Marantz from the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a 4th round pick in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.

Marantz, a 91-born, 6’0” 190 pound forward and is a Calgary native who joins the Hurricanes from the Chiefs with 109 WHL games under his belt. Last season he had a breakout season, posting 42 points (20G, 22A) in 68 games with 62 PIMs and a +21 plus/minus rating.

Marantz is expected to be in the lineup as early as tomorrow night for the Hurricanes Home Opener. The Hurricanes Dairy Queen Home Opener is set for Friday, September 30th when the Canes open the doors of the newly renovated ENMAX Centre for the first time with a matchup against the Calgary Hitmen. Game time is set for 7:00 PM in Lethbridge, with doors opening at 6:00 PM - The Hurricanes would like to encourage all fans to arrive and be in their seats early for the all the pregame videoboard festivities! Visit the Hurricanes office or contact the Ticket Centre at 329 SEAT for ticket details. As a special offer purchase two basket meals at participating Dairy Queen locations you will get two free tickets to the Dairy Queen Home Opener while supplies last!

The Hockey club would like to remind all Season Ticket Holders who have not already picked up their tickets to do so by dropping by the newly renovated ENMAX Centre Ticket Centre located on the North East side of the ENMAX Centre. It is highly recommended that all Season Ticket Holders pick up their tickets prior to the September 30th Home Opener to avoid the rush!
