Matt Wilkins Commits to Union College

The Brooks Bandits are proud to announce 20-year-old Forward Matt Wilkins has committed to play at Union College beginning in the fall of 2012. Located in Schenectady, New York the "Dutchmen" play in the ECAC and were the conference champions in 2011.

Matt is from Kimberley, BC where he grew up playing minor hockey and Junior B for the hometown "Dynamiters". Before joining the Bandits in the summer of 2010 Matt was with the Trail Smoke Eaters of the BCHL. Matt led the Bandits in scoring last season with 30 goals and 47 assists which put him second in AJHL scoring. He followed those numbers with 15 points in only 10 playoff games.

Head Coach/GM Ryan Papaioannou - "I've had the opportunity to coach Matt as early as 9 years old and to see his progress over the years is very special. We were fortunate to acquire Matt before last season and his play on the ice has led our club ever since. He brings leadership to our dressing room and as an Assistant Captain he is looked up to by our younger players. Matt comes from a tremendous family and they fully deserve to see him reach a goal with this commitment to Union. "

Matt is the first Bandit of the 2011 - 2012 season to commit to the NCAA.
