Bomber Prospect Commits to UMD

Press Release

The Flin Flon Bombers are pleased to announce that 1994 prospect Brett Boehm (Beardy’s Blackhawks SMAAAHL, Martinsville, SK) has committed to an NCAA scholarship with the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Boehm (6’1-170 lbs) is in his second year with the Blackhawks and has compiled 80 points (35g, 45a) in 39 games.

“We are very excited and happy for Brett,” said Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan, “he can now start his junior career knowing where his future lies and just focus on his development.”

Boehm, who was named to the 2nd Team All Star at this year’s Mac’s Midget AAA Hockey Tournament, has also expressed his commitment to the Flin Flon Bombers for the 2012-13 SJHL season.

“To have a guy come in and want to play here after accepting a scholarship is a big deal,” added Reagan. “He wants to be here and we definitely want him here in the Maroon and White.”

Boehm has had a lot of interest from other teams at the Junior A level, especially the western provinces. Boehm also chose the Junior A route despite being a high level prospect with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL, where him and his line mates, who are 1-2-3 in Saskatchewan AAA Midget scoring are all protected of the Hitmen.

In three games with the Bombers this season, Boehm has one assits. In his rookie campaign with the Blackhawks, he registered 34 points (17g, 17a) in 45 games.

The Bulldogs are the defending National Champions and are ranked 3rd in the national at the NCAA Division I level, having just dropped from the number 1 spot this week.
