Vernon sniper Nowick commits to Northern Michigan

The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce that 20-year-old forward Darren Nowick has committed to the University of Northern Michigan for next season.

The product of Long Beach California is in his second season with the Vipers. Last season Nowick posted nine goals and 18 assists in 59 games and this season is enjoying a breakout year with 25 goals and 42 points in 37 games.

Nowick is the ninth player on the Vipers roster to have secured an NCAA scholarship. The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder has been out since Jan. 13 with injury by Vipers head coach and general manager Jason Williamson is happy for his star forward.

“Darren’s game has come a long way during his time in Vernon and I’m very happy to see him getting an opportunity to further his career and education next season. He has been a huge part of our line-up this season and I’m looking forward to getting him back in very soon.”
