WHL and SaskEnergy rewarding minor hockey

Press Release

Minor hockey players from 10 teams across Saskatchewan will soon have the opportunity to watch Western Canada’s elite junior hockey athletes play live at a WHL game as part of the SaskEnergy Hockey Weekend Western Hockey League Youth Experience Contest.

“SaskEnergy continues to be proud of this initiative where we have partnered with the Western Hockey League to send rural minor hockey teams to see exciting live WHL hockey action,” said Shannon Doka, Community Involvement Leader, SaskEnergy. “This contest has created a unique teambuilding opportunity since it began in 2010.”

The 2014 contest winners are: Melfort Novice Missiles, Nipawin Atom Black Hawks, Drake Atom Canucks, Hafford Atom Mustangs and Blaine Lake Atom Bombers, Churchbridge Atom Imperials, Kelliher Ituna Atom Hockey, Moose Jaw Initiation Red Wings, Assiniboia Novice 2 Stingers, Fox Valley Atom Blues and Leader/Eatonia Atoms.

The contest is held in conjunction with SaskEnergy Hockey Weekend which will be holding its 7th annual province-wide event from January 17th to 19th, 2014. SaskEnergy Hockey Weekend celebrates hockey in Saskatchewan by ensuring local rinks and community volunteers receive support to keep the game alive for generations to come in communities large and small across the province.
