Capuano Commits to Providence College for Fall of 2012

Press Release

Express Co-Captain and All-Star forward Max Capuano will be playing his college hockey in his home state of Rhode Island with his official commitment to Coach Nate Leeman and the Providence College Friars in the Fall of 2012. The Cranston, RI native will be entering his second season with the Express. Last season he led the Express with 33 goals and 50 assists and finished third in the AJHL in scoring.

“I want to thank my family for all of their support and encouragement and thank Coach Dalessio and Kumpel for everything they have done for me and helping through this process. Providence is a great fit for me and I am grateful to their coaching staff for the opportunity they have given me. I am looking forward to getting the season started in Walpole and our team having another strong season,” said Max Capuano.

Providence College is a member of D-I Hockey East and will be entering its first season under the tutelage of Coach Leeman and assistants Ben Barr and Jamie Russell as they look to bring the Friars back to the top of College Hockey. The coaching staff and the strong academics is what attracted Capuano to Providence and he is fortunate to receive this commitment.

Capuano will be following in familiar footsteps. His father David and uncle Jack both played in Hockey East at the University of Maine in the late 80’s where they enjoyed exceptional college careers. Both would go onto play professional hockey in the NHL and would eventually play a handful of games together in Vancouver in 1991.

“Mark and I are very excited for Max and his family. He has worked extremely hard over the past 18 months to put himself in a position to receive such a great opportunity. He has proven he is a strong leader and a tremendous person with his hard work and exceptional character on and off the ice; he has been a great example to all of our players here in Walpole. We are both looking forward to coaching Max again this season,” said Coach Tony Dalessio

Max and the rest of his Express teammates will begin their AJHL title defense on Friday September 23rd when they face-off against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at the annual AJHL Kick-Off Showcase in Simsbury, CT.
