Edmonds calling Steeler games

Press Release

The Selkirk Steelers Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce that Paul Edmonds will be joining the team for the 2011-2012 season as play by play commentator on Steelers live internet radio.

Edmonds who has been known as the voice of the Winnipeg Goldeyes for the past 17 summers will broadcast approximately 28 home games along with selected away games. The first broadcast will be October 01, 2011 at 7:30pm when the Steelers play host to the Portage Terriers at the Selkirk Recreation Complex.

Edmonds brings an extensive hockey background to the Steelers after serving as Radio and Media Director for the Regina Pats (1993-1995), Colorado Gold Kings (1998-1999), Phoenix Mustangs (2000-2001) and colour analyst on Manitoba Moose broadcasts from 2000-2001. Edmonds also worked for three seasons (2006-2009) as the Television Broadcaster for the Manitoba Moose on MTS-TV.

In the fall of 2008 Edmonds was named Broadcaster of the Year by www.ballparkdigest.com. The award is presented annually to the top minor league baseball Broadcaster in North America and was Edmond’s first such award of his career.

"I'm extremely excited about the opportunity the Steelers have presented to me. The hockey club has proven over the last decade that they are a perennial playoff contender in the MJHL and a premier Junior A franchise in Canada” says Paul Edmonds.
