LASER JOINS THE BARRIE COLTS

Press Release

Toronto Lakeshore Patriots defenceman Jonathan Laser has joined the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League for the upcoming 2011-12 season.

Laser will be sorely missed this coming year, but he has moved on to his goal of playing in the OHL this coming season with the Colts after playing in the Patriots first two regular season games. "Jonathan is a fantastic kid and hockey player. He is extremely well respected in our dressing room, so much so, that the players voted him an as an Alternate Captain at 17 years old, which is rare. It is always bitter sweet losing a player of Jonathan's skill level and character, but he feels this is the right move for him and he is a very mature young man and the Patriot family completely supports his decision" stated Head Coach Mike Tarantino. With his departure, the Patriots have a big hole to fill on the back end, but are not short on young talent looking for an opportunity to step up. "It's funny talking to the boys, there was a lot of hype this year about our team and realistically we're still very young, only having four 19 year olds and zero 20 year olds. We've struggled in our first two games, but I'm confident we’ll find our identity."

Best of luck to Jonathan as he fulfills his OHL dream.
