VEES COMPLETE CAPTAINCY

Press Release sent to me

PENTICTON, BC – The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is pleased to announce Joey Benik as an assistant captain for the 2011-12 season.

The 19 year-old from Andover, Minnesota is returning for his second season with the Vees. In his rookie season, Benik scored 30 goals and collected 56 points in 60 games, those numbers earned him a spot on the BCHL All-Rookie Team. Benik continued his strong play in the post-season where he tallied seven points in nine games.

“We are very fortunate as an organization to have so many quality individuals that are deserving of wearing a letter. In saying this it was apparent to our staff that Joey has returned for his second season in Penticton with an "all business approach". Said Vees Head Coach & General Manager, Fred Harbinson.

“I'm confident the Vees fans will see a distinct work ethic in all three of our captains that will be contagious throughout our line-up.”

Benik joins Logan Johnston and Troy Stecher as Captains for the Vees.

The Vees open their exhibition schedule Thursday September 8th versus Wenatchee Wild at the SOEC. The Vees final two exhibition games are September 9th and 17th against the Coquitlam Express.
