Press Release
Brandon, MB. -- The
Brandon Wheat Kings have confirmed that 15-year old prospect Kale Clague
has been assigned to the Alberta Midget Hockey League's Lloydminster
Bobcats.
Brandon's second
pick and sixth overall selection in last spring's Western Hockey League
Bantam Draft, Clague made his Wheat King debut this past weekend as the
Wheat Kings kicked off the 2013-14 regular season by sweeping the Moose
Jaw Warriors in a home and home series.
After
scoring two goals and 5 points in four pre-season games, Clague was
held pointless against the Warriors but certainly held his own during
the two regular season games.
"What
a month he's had. He's been tremendous. It was a great experience for
him to get through the pre-season and right into opening weekend and
play as much as he's played." Brandon GM/Coach Kelly McCrimmon told
Bruce Luebke on CKLQ's Coaches' Corner Monday morning. "For our fans to
get a look at what lies ahead for our future with a player like that
joining our organization next year."
Clague's
departure leaves the Wheat Kings with 27 players on their roster -- 16
forwards, nine defencemen and two goaltenders. One of those is captain
Ryan Pulock, who remains with the National Hockey League's New York
Islanders.
