QMJHL proud to join the fight against bullying and violence at school

Press Release

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) is proud to join forces with the Semaine contre l’intimidation et la violence à l’école, an initiative of the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS), announced today by Minister Marie Malavoy. The League will put forward its players and social media to promote the program’s values.

“The QMJHL is pleased to confirm that it will participate in this important initiative that promotes respect and mutual aid, key values we instill in our players,” said Gilles Courteau, the QMJHL commissioner. “It’s very important for us to promote this event and to continue to fight bullying. Our players visit schools and meet with students throughout the season. They’re excellent spokespeople for raising awareness among young people.”

The focus of this year’s Semaine contre l’intimidation et la violence à l’école is using cyberappreciation to help fight cyberbullying. The QMJHL’s players will be sharing positive messages on social media and will be able to take part in other activities as part of this week.
