Oil Barons Atop of CJHL Weekly Rankings

Press Release

CALGARY, Alberta - Following another successful AJHL Showcase in Spruce Grove, the Fort McMurray Oil Barons remain undefeated as the CJHL enters October. Two other AJHL teams that are nipping at the MOB's heels include last year's RBC Cup Champion, the Brooks Bandits, and the Sherwood Park Crusaders who are steadfastly holding their own in the early going. In the BCHL, Powell River remains strong and West Kelowna have reeled off six wins in a row to move up in the Top 20.

The La Ronge Ice Wolves and Kindersley Klippers are pummeling their opposition in Saskatchewan. Meanwhile, in Manitoba, the Virden Oil Capitals are the early season surprise and the Steinbach Pistons are picking right up from their championship playoff run at the end of last season.

In the SIJHL, the Thunder Bay North Stars are unbeaten after three games, and are getting pushed by a great week from the Minnesota Iron Rangers. Over in the NOJHL, the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners and the Soo Thunderbirds remain at the top of the standings, while a strong week from the Espanola Rivermen garners an Honourable Mention in the Top 20 Rankings.

The East Division in the OJHL is quickly becoming a super-competitive division, and the Kingston Voyageurs and Wellington Dukes are regaining familiar spots at the top of the standings. The Ottawa Jr. Senators and Carleton Place Canadiens simply continue to roll in the CCHL.

In the LHJAAAQ, Les Cougars de Sherbrooke continues to surprise with a remarkable 9-0 record to start the season. In the MHL, Truro remains strong, but did not play this past week, while Yarmouth and Weeks are emerging as true threats.
