OHL Appoints Mark Fitzgerald Nutritional and Training Consultant

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Fitzgerald for the position of OHL Nutritional and Training Consultant.

Effective immediately Fitzgerald will work with OHL member clubs, players, families and billets to coordinate and assist with nutritional programs such as pre and post-game meal plans and daily nutritional requirements serving as an additional resource to teams in all areas of nutrition and high performance training.  Additionally, Fitzgerald will work with the league to further develop nutritional, training, and testing protocol and programs for all OHL Special Events including the Development Combine, OHL Gold Cup, and all OHF-OHL Under-15 Programs of Excellence.

“We are very excited to have Mark join the Ontario Hockey League,” said Joe Birch, the OHL’s Senior Director of Hockey Development and Special Events.  “His knowledge and expertise will enhance the playing environment for both current and future OHL student athletes.  As the number one development league in the world, it is important that the OHL remain on the cutting edge of nutrition and training.”

Fitzgerald also currently works as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, the Oshawa Generals, and is the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the University of Ontario Institute of Technology primarily working with their Men’s and Women’s Hockey Programs.  Fitzgerald has also been the lead Training Advisor for Under Armour Canada and the Director of the Under Armour Development Combines for the OHL.
